New feature: The Tournament Creation Wizard

As a powerful eSport platform, Toornament offers plenty of advanced features, tools and customization options.  This rich array of possibilities can be a bit overwhelming for newcomers at times.

In this view, we streamlined the process and are happy to introduce our Creation Wizard, making a tournament creation as easy as 1-2-3:

For the second year in a row, we’ll power the Dreamhack Tours, which just opened its registrations.

Official BYOC tournaments

Paid Registration

We handle all the money transactions for the organizers through our secured platform. To benefit from this feature, just apply for the “Trusted User” status (more details here), it’s easy and mandatory to “prevent identity theft, financial fraud, money laundering and terrorist financing”.
The Paid Registration process has been set up beforehand to open at the desired time frame.

Embedded Widgets

Our widgets enrich the Dreamhack website, as we can’t stress enough how showing all the information on one centralized place helps.

Custom fields

The organizers needed to gather important information, such as name/last name, age and game iDs and thus, created custom fields. They finally set up privacy mode to keep this data only visible to the admins.

API

The Dreamhack organizing team will be able to generate players lists, including the custom fields datas, to feed and optimize their CRM and Mailing platforms. Learn more about our free, open API here and here.

Check In

The critical choke point that is the Welcome Desk can use features such players checking, to inform in real time the admin team who’s here and who’s late. The API will also come in handy to help manage the wave of participants and audience.

Toornament TV

Our public display solution (main stage, information screens, stream) will help the participants, on-site and online audience to stay updated with the numerous tournaments of this Dreamhack Tours 2016.

Toornament Report: Capcom Cup 2015

This week end saw the ultimate major tournament on Ultra Street Fighter IV.

The biggest fighting game in the world ended its great eSport lifespan with the Capcom Cup 2015, where the top 32 Capcom Pro Tour players fought for a split of the impressive $500,000 money prize and to engrave their name into Street Fighter history.

We covered the tournament live this week end and wanted to provide you with insights from what we collected.

Using our API, we were able to extract interesting statistics and datas to breakdown the notable performances and trends from this 2015 edition. (click on the picture for higher res)

  • Big Bosses: All EVO Champions attended: Daigo (2009, 2010), Fuudo (2011), Infiltration (2012), Xian (2013), Luffy (2014), Momochi (2015)
  • Biggest losers: Momochi and Bonchan dropped 16 places compared to 2014, respectively from 1st to top 17 and from top 9 to top 25.
  • Back to back: 11 players qualified for both the 2014 and 2015 Cups: Momochi, Infiltration, Bonchan, Xian, Luffy, Daigo, Snake Eyez, Justin Wong, NuckledDu and Gackt.
  • There’s the Tour and there’s the Cup: None Capcom Pro Tour 2015 Top 6 ranked player made it to the Capcom Cup 2015 Top 6, except for Xian (4th, then 3rd).
  • So close, yet so far: RZR|Xian has always been placed in the Top 3, but never won: 2nd (2013), 2nd (2014), 3rd (2015).

[Organizers] Your tournament’s information: what, when, where?

We’ve previously talked about the importance to fill all the important informations of your tournament. This topic is still underestimated, as we, as media and eSports fans, still struggle too often to get infos on major tournaments. This shouldn’t happen anymore.

So, let’s see today which information you should push and more importantly, when and where.

What?

Be sure you’ll have to answer these questions several times. Better have them displayed.

General

  • Schedules
  • Dates and location
  • Streams, results

Participants

Audience

  • Entry fee
  • Animations

These are the critical informations you need to deliver. The next points are “When ?” and “Where ?”

When?

Well, asap of course. Don’t wait the last moment to publish all your informations. Participants, audience, medias and partners need to organize themselves too. Just add information as soon as you have them confirmed.

This last part is important, as people won’t read some of your informations twice and later correcting a false information may be too late. Make sure you have them double-validated and tripple-locked before pushing them into the public.

Where?

The best way is to centralise all your information in one location, generally your official website. Social networks are not suited to display important informations, as they mostly function as a flow. A pinned tweet or link in bio won’t cut it.

Now that you made sure all the informations are available soon enough and accessible enough, you can spread them in famous sites and platform (do you know Toornament?) in case your primary base is down for some reason.
